Robert Ransom, originally from the Perthshire village of Lochearnhead, first tasted Glenfarclas '105' whilst studying at the University of Aberdeen. That first dram of Cask Strength ‘105’ was a revelation, and would eventually lead Robert to Speyside, to work for the Glenfarclas Distillery, renowned for producing traditional Speyside style malt whisky with a heavy sherry influence.

After graduating Robert initially worked in the seafood industry, during which time he first visited Asia whilst working for a Scottish salmon farmer. Following five years with a food trading company, Robert joined Glenfarclas in May 2004.

Based at the distillery, Robert leads a small team who are responsible for the sales and marketing of Glenfarclas around the world. As well as travelling extensively across Asia, Europe and Scandinavia as a Glenfarclas Brand Ambassador, Robert developed and launched The Family Casks, a unique collection of single cask malt whisky from Glenfarclas, with at least one cask bottled for every year from 1952 to 1994. Commenting on the collection Robert said, ‘For the whisky lover, what could be a better birthday present than a bottle of whisky distilled during your special year?’

 Robert Ransom立足於格蘭花格酒廠,其主要工作在於帶領一個小團隊,以負責格蘭花格的全球行銷。他有如格蘭花格品牌的外交大使,時常來往穿梭於亞洲、歐洲及斯堪地那維亞,他開創並拓展出「家族桶」,這是一種獨一無二的珍藏品,來自於格蘭花格單一酒桶麥芽威士忌,酒桶的年份從1952 年起至 1994年止,每一年份至少會有一個酒桶在內。Robert Ransom曾對這一珍藏品提出如下評語:「針對威士忌酒的愛好者而言,難道還有一種生日禮物可以勝過在他生日那天,把一瓶特定出生年份的威士忌酒送給他嗎?」

Robert is pleased to attend Whisky Live Taipei to launch the new Glenfarclas 40 Years Old. This new expression of Glenfarclas, which has received a score of 95 out of 100 from of the, has been bottled at 46%. vol., from casks filled in the late 1960s. With good stocks of casks from the 1960s, the distillery is now able to offer whisky with a 40 years old age statement as part of their core range.

Robert Ransom樂於參加台北威士忌博覽會,以拓銷酒齡40年的新款格蘭花格,這一新款是從1960年代後期儲存至今的許多酒桶中加以挑選,然後再分裝為酒精濃度46%的瓶裝酒。自1960年代以來,由於蒸餾酒廠對於酒桶的良好貯存,現在方能供應此一經過認證為酒齡40年的威士忌,並作為其核心產品的一部分。在「Malt Advocate Magazine」雜誌中,酒評專家John Hansell在滿分100分的量表中,曾給予95分的高度評價。
 
Robert enjoys living and working in Speyside, and as a keen promoter of Scotland’s principal malt whisky producing region, helps organise the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
